A hillside home stepped along its contour, opening timber-framed living pavilions toward the Andaman Sea while enclosing the bedroom wing behind a planted courtyard for privacy and cross-ventilation.
Kyoto Prefecture, Japan
A quiet reworking of a traditional machiya, retaining the original timber frame while inserting a minimal interior language of tatami, shoji, and exposed structure sourced with local craftsmen.
